shahi paneer is mainly served with butter naan or plain rice. but i prefer it will biryani rice.

the Shahi paneer is created by the mughal empire in punjab (india nad pakistan). shahi paneer is a delicious recipe as it includes a lot of butter in it and fresh cream too. when the first time i eat it at the restaurant i feel like a mughal emperor (don’t take it serious i was kidding). but its a tasty paneer recipe. i prefer making shahi paneer at the start of the month as that time i can use alot of desi ghee in it.

Step 1- Put a fry pan on the stove and turn on the flame. add 4-5 tblspn desi ghee into it. ( as we are making shahi paneer so we need desi ghee)

Step 2- let it get heat after that add 4 finely chopped onions into the pan.

Step 3- stir the chopped onions for 2-3 minutes  after that add 4 green cardamom and 4 black cardamom (seeds only not the rind).

Step 4- mix it well with the onions and cover the lid for 4-5 minutes.

Step 5- After 4-5 minutes,open the lid and stir it till it becomes light golden color.

Step 6- Now add 5 finely chopped tomatoes and stir it well.

Step 7- Now add 2 tspn red chili powder,1 tspn cumin powder,1 tspn coriander powder and salt to taste .

Step 8- now mix it well for at least a minute and now lower the flame and cover the lid ,let it get cooked for about 5 minutes.

Step 9- After 5 minutes,stir it well we can see the onions and tomatoes had started melted a bit ,lets cover the lid for another 5 minutes.

Step 10-stir it for a minute,switch off the stove and transfer the masala into a blending jar and blend it well and set aside.

Step 11- Now put a pot into the flame,add 3 tblspn ghee and let it get heat.

Step 12- Add the masala that we had blended earlier to the cooking pot and stir it well for about a minute.

Step 13- now cover the lid and let it get cooked for 4-5 minutes.

Step 14- now add 4 tblspn tomato pure and mix it well ,cover it again for at least 5 minutes.

Step 15-now we can see that the gravy had started boiling ,its almost done now to this add 400 gm cottage cheese (paneer) cutted into medium sized cubes.

Step 16- mix the paneer well but make sure he paneer won’t break,cover the lid again for 5 more minutes.

Step 17-after 5 minutes stir the paneer once than add 1/2 cup fresh cream and mix it well.

Step 18- cover the lid for the last time so that paneer get cooked nicely and observes the masala well.

Step 19- now open the lid and stir for a while, switch off the stove and transfer it to a serving bowl.

Step 20- Our shahi paneer is now ready, garnish it with some fresh cream.

  • 2 tspn red chili powder
  • 1 tspn cumin powder
  • 1 tspn coriander powder
  • salt to taste

For cooking of shahi paneer

  • 3 tblspn desi ghee/butter
  • shahi masala (that we had grinded)
  • 4 tblspn tomato pure
  • 400 gm cottage cheese cubes (paneer)
  • 1/2 cup fresh cream

For garnishing of Shahi paneer

  • 2 tspn fresh cream
  • 1 tspn coriander leaves (optional)
Directions for making Shahi paneer recipe-

1- Put a fry pan on the stove,add 4-5 tblspn desi ghee.

2-add 4 finely chopped onions into the pan after that add green cardamom and black cardamom.

3- mix it well with the onions and cover the lid after that stir it till it becomes light golden color.

4- Now add 5 finely chopped tomatoes,chili powder,cumin powder,coriander powder and salt to taste .

5- now mix it well for at least a minute ,let it get cooked for about 5 minutes.

6- stir it for a minute,switch off the stove and transfer the masala into a blending jar.

7- Now put a pot into the flame,add 3 tblspn ghee and let it get heat after that add the shahi masala

8- now cover the lid and let it get cooked for 4-5 minutes after that add 4 tblspn tomato pure and cover it again 5 minutes.

9- add 400 gm cottage cheese (paneer) cutted into medium sized cubes.

10- stir the paneer once than add 1/2 cup fresh cream and mix it well.

11- cover the lid for 5 minutes,now switch off the stove and Our shahi paneer is now ready.

Instruction-
  1. don’t make it a simple dish ,its a shahi dish use alot of butter in it.
  2. don’t grind the tomato until it it cooked well unless you may get uncooked flavor.
  3. let the gravy cook well than add the paneer cubes.
  4. making it more shahi by adding a lot of fresh cream to it.
Bonus tip about shahi paneer recipe-

Serve Shahi paneer with butter naan or plain rice. i would recommend too serve with naan or biryani rice.
